New Developments in Disparate Impact & Criminal Conviction Criteria
In April, HUD released a memo addressing potential fair housing violations in regard to landlord's criminal conviction rental criteria and disparate impact of that criteria on members of protected classes. Multifamily NW is working on new best practices for rental criteria including new language for our Rental Applications. Stay tuned for those developments. In the meantime, the National Apartment Association (NAA) and the National Multifamily Housing Council (NMHC) just published a White Paper to give our members and the industry further clarification to HUD's memo.
