Double Digit Rent Hikes are on the Way

(MarketWatch) — Apartment dwellers could be facing double-digit rent increases in the coming years as a shortage of new multifamily units coupled with a rise in prime renter-age households gives landlords clout they haven’t seen since the mid-1990s, development experts said Thursday.

Carbon Monoxide Rules for Rental Housing
Oregon:

The 2009 legislature passed HB 3450 mandating carbon monoxide alarm(s) in most residential housing. 
 
A carbon monoxide source is defined as a heater, fireplace, appliance or cooking source that uses coal, kerosene, petroleum products, wood or other fuels that emit carbon monoxide as a by-product of combustion, or an attached garage with an opening directly into a living space.....

New Ruling on Medical Marijuana

On April 14, 2010 the Oregon Supreme Court decided the case of Emerald Steel Fabricators v. Bureau of Labor and Industries. The Court held that an employer could terminate an employee who used (outside of work) medical marijuana, even though that employee followed all the rules for using medical marijuana, and used it to help with his disability. November 2010 the Bureau of Labor and Industries (BOLI) released the policy statement stating they would no longer accept medical marijuana cases for investigation.
