What is the Certified Pool & Spa Operator® Certification Program?
The Pool & Hut Tub Alliance’s CPO® certification training program provides training for efficient, effective, and economical operation of swimming pools and spas. It is ideal for operators, owners, managers, service companies, public health officers, or anyone who interacts with recreational water.
To attain the Certified Pool/Spa Operator® certification, a person must:
- Complete the Pool Operator Primer™ on-line training.
- Participate in the two-half day Pool Operator Fusion™ classroom course. The Pool Operator Fusion™ course will be by virtual delivery, from 7:45 am to 12:30 pm.
- Pass the online CPO final exam.

• Covers all topics necessary for pool operators, including a section on local and state codes.
• Includes comprehensive full color, indexed handbook which may also be used as a reference tool on the job.
• Successful completion of a written exam is required for certification.

• Certification is valid five years.
