Dear Multifamily NW Members & Interested Parties,

January 22nd the Oregon Legislature opened for the 2019 Session, and they wasted no time with the first committee hearing of Rent Control bill SB 608 scheduled for Monday, February 4th beginning at 3:00pm.

This bill has the potential to make grave changes to Oregon Landlord/Tenant law, more than any previous attempt in the last 20 years. In addition to limiting rent increases to an annual 7% +CPI it would also eliminate most End of Tenancy "no-cause" Notices and mandate state-wide relocation payments.

We will continue to update members as soon as more information is available. Please consider giving formal testimony, whether in person or in writing, how this bill would negatively affect your business.

Please see Rent Control/Stabilization talking points, sample letter to legislature, the hearing agenda and a copy of SB 608 below. Let us know if you're able to participate in this fight. Contact Jonathan Clay  with any questions or to coordinate your participation on Monday. Additionally you can follow this link to quickly send a message to your State Senator or Representative. Thank you!
