According to most data, the percentage of employees considered “poor performances” in a company is typically falls between 0% and 20% with the median being around 4% depending on the organization and how effectively performance is managed. Some causes include lack of clear expectations, lack of accountability, lack of engagement, and life situations.
This program will provide a quick overview of the steps employers can take to address and improve an employee's unsatisfactory performance, usually involving identifying the root cause of the issue, providing targeted feedback, and implementing a plan with clear expectations to rectify the problem, which could include training, coaching, or disciplinary actions depending on the severity and nature of the performance issue.
Together we will share our experiences managing employee performance, what has gone well and lessons we have learned from those situations that did not go so well. In addition, sharing with each other our best practices and bright ideas for successful employee outcomes.

The facilitator for this program is Rebecca Vales, Senior Consultant of HR Answers, Inc., with over 20+ years of human resource experience. Currently, Rebecca serves as a Senior Consultant with HR Answers providing HR Consultation to government, public, private, and not-for-profit clients. Prior to joining HR Answers, Rebecca worked in Oregon State Government for over 20 years serving as a Senior Consultant focused on developing and implementing statewide HR policies, HR auditing and providing HR consultation to 47 state agencies. Several of those years, Rebecca served as the HR Manager at Oregon Housing and Community Services. Rebecca’s experience also extends to working in HR at a public university and as a licensed insurance representative.
