ALERT: City of Fairview adopted a per-unit Public Safety Fee
During the Summer of 2025, the Fairview city council voted in favor of a monthly $20 per unit Public Safety fee to offset costs for police, fire and 911 services they outsource from neighboring jurisdictions.
The monthly $20 fee will be collected via the city's monthly utility billing - the first utility bills with the new Public Safety fee were mailed in August.
The city of Fairview provides a webpage of FAQ for the new Public Safety fee. If you feel there are billing discrepancies, or they have the incorrect unit count for your building, contact the city at 503-665-7929.
There is no prohibition on assigning these increased operational costs to residents, as this City of Fairview Public Service fee was designed to be charged to every household within city limits of Fairview. Make sure to connect with your landlord tenant law attorney to ensure compliance before increasing the monthly rent to recoup these fees automatically charged to the property owner.
